Commitment/dedication
Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matt. 11.28-29).
A quest for truth
Jesus taught his followers that "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth" (Jn. 16.13).
Openness
One of Jesus' longest and most challenging conversations was with a Samaritan woman. The cultural barriers that existed between them were broken down to enable mutual understanding to develop between them (Jn. 4.7-28, 31-37).
Questioning
Jesus encouraged his listeners to question their assumptions about on matters they would previously have taken for granted, such as their approach to Sabbath observance (Mk. 2.23-28), the importance of wealth (Mk. 10.17-31; Lk. 12.13-21), judging others
(Matt. 7.1-3; cf. Lk. 6.36-38), retribution (Matt. 5.38-42), and how they should treat their enemies (Matt. 5.43-48).
