What does
it mean?

Learning:

  • is a lifelong journey of discovery for everyone

  • involves seeking deeper spiritual understanding of oneself, the world and God 

  • includes gaining knowledge of the world (including mastering work roles and obtaining professional qualifications) and building relationship skills that enable us to contribute more to the community/society in which we live/work 

  • comes through nurture, education, training, study, observation, asking questions and social interactions

  • is also acquired through engagement with life and experience

  • from our mistakes is critical to our growth and development

  • can be enlivened by revelation, informed by reflection, explained by insight and clarified by discernment

  • requires keeping an open mind, being curious to find out more and eager to broaden our experience

  • takes effort

  • effects change in the way we think (attitudes), see things (perceptions), appreciate things (values) and do things (behaviour) 

  • inspires, energises and guides us

  • is the essence of discipleship (the noun disciple comes from the Latin discipulus, which means "student, learner, or follower")

  • is most effective when it is put into action
