Significance

in the parable of the lost sheep, Jesus taught that God is like a shepherd who is ready to risk his life to rescue a solitary sheep which has strayed away from the main flock (Lk. 15.3-7).

Human dignity

Jesus taught that not even a sparrow falls to the ground without God noticing and that human beings are more valuable than many sparrows (Matt. 10.29-31).

Equality

St. Paul proclaimed that "There is no longer Jew or Greek; there is no longer slave or free; there is no longer male and female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus (Gal. 3.28).

Justice

Jesus criticises the Pharisees for tithing diligently but neglecting justice and the love of God. They ought to have practiced these things, without neglecting the others (Lk. 11.42).

Fairness

Jesus saved a woman caught in adultery, who, according to Jewish Law should have been stoned to death, by challenging the integrity of her accusers (Jn. 8.3-11).
