Liberation:
Biblical References
Truth
Jesus taught that those who follow him will know the truth and the truth will set them
free (Jn. 8.31-32)
Reconciliation
St. Paul explains to the Corinthian church that "in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself... and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us" (2 Cor. 5.19). Thus those who follow Christ, who are reconciled to God through him, are appointed to carry on his work as agents of his reconciliation in the world.
Enjoyment/responsibility
God put Adam in the Garden of Eden and gave him permission to freely eat of every tree, apart from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but God also made him responsible for tilling and keeping the garden (Gen. 1.15-16)
In St. Luke's version of the parable of the faithful and unfaithful servants, Jesus says "From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required, and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded (Lk. 1241-48; cf. Matt. 24.45-51).
